Here is some of what you need to know: When I asked the GPS to take me to Cardigan State park it took me to the AMC Hut which is not where this hike starts from. Use the GPS coordinates above.

I would divide this short trail into two section: the woods and the rock.

The first mile is in the woods with an uphill climb of about 800′. The trail is well maintained and easy to follow (orange Blazes). The last half mile you will rise another 450 more feet in elevation and the ground turns to all granite. The rock was easy to grip with my trail running shoes I cruised right to the top.

IMG_3840Like most fire towers the view from the top is amazing. Through the haze I could see the New Hampshire High peaks in the north and a ton of other mountains surrounding the summit. Their is almost nothing to block the wind but on this hot morning it was welcomed. The tower itself was closed and I am not sure if you are ever allowed to enter, send me a message if you find out the answer.
