Elk Mountain Hike

Here is some of what you need to know. The map below is only a suggestion, what is cool is that you start at the bottom, pick your slope and head up. This trip took place in late April or early May. My goal was for us to play in some early summer snow, and we were in luck. Read below…

The trail this time of year was dry in some parts, and muddy in others from the melting snow. The difficulty with this trail is that you go up about 870 ft in elevation over about a mile. This is not a walk in the park, you better be in some kind of shape.
For those who choose to go up the slopes, the view is incredible. You can see miles of farm land, mountains, and enjoy that top of the hill breeze. This is worth the drive if you are in the area and are looking to hike some trails in NEPA.
