Here is some of what you need to know: The cliffs may be closed from march to August to protect Peregrine Falcons, their nests failed this year so it was open for us.

-The trail head is across the street from the parking area.

1. Scroll the mouse over the altitude line to see where it lines up on the map

2. Click on the flags for more information

3. Click on the pictures to make them large

Before the parking area is a place to pull off the road to snap some pictures of the mountain and see what you are up against. From the road this place looks huge. We thought that their is no way it can only be 3/4 of a mile to the top of that thing.

The trail is rocky in places, but most of all it is steep. You will gain almost 600 ft in elevation over 0.7 miles, and that is a workout for anybody. You will travel through forest all the way up until you hit the cliffs where the woods will open up. The blazes for this trail are blue and  you will be on the Long Trail until just before the cliffs where a sign will point you in the right direction.

On the cliff the view is awesome!!! You will find yourself among the tops of the mountains looking over the valley you just drove through. Rocks, trees, and mountain breeze; it was a great place to take a break and enjoy the great state of Vermont.

This is a great hike in the Green mountains. It is steep enough for a workout and short enough that you do not have to spend the whole day looking for a view.
