This trail is short, fairly well groomed and not too rocky. It is a nice forest and a great place for the kids to hike. Their are several splits on the trail but if you follow the  yellow blazes you will make it to your destination.

At the top of the mountain the tower appears. It stands tall and has that mid-evil look to it. Their is plenty of area around the tower for the kids to run around play. The inside has what looks to be newly built steps that will lead you to the lookout at the top. you can pretty much get a 360 degree view and boy is it nice. Is it worth paying the $15 in the fall to see the leaves? I would say it would be worth it if you are nearby and you do not want a long hike.

I am against fees to access nature when it comes to a state parks and it really bothered me to have to pay all that money. In the end after a nice hike, a climb up a tower, and a swim at the beach it was all water under the bridge. My kids and I had a great time together and that is what this is all about.

Check out nearby Higby Mountain; a short hike with steep cliffs. Ct is great for hiking, check it out!!!

Thank you for your incredible website! I greatly appreciate the insight.

Is there a reason why you didn’t do the loop?

I do not remember, but it was not out only hike of the day and the kids wanted to go swim in the lake. I usually blame the kids so I am sticking with it
